Different post today: I'm trying out a photo diary from a day spent at Noosa, Queensland. I think Noosa is by far one of my favourite places on the planet, the other day I went there with some pals and we went off to the rock pools. They're a bit of a trek but if you can find them they're an amazing place to spend the day. If you're up for a different hidden treasure of Noosa, head to Betty's Burgers on Hastings, best food you'll ever eat (or so me and the girls say).
NOTE: THE WINNER HAS BEEN PICKED AND CONTACTED x
Woah, how is it December already? I swear the entirety of the year has flown by much faster than I've had time to notice. Well we're on the way to Christmas, and I thought in the wake of a few blog successes I'd give back and hand out a little gift pack to one of you, with a couple of lovely goodies in there.
Writing the title is weird as hell, let me say. After a long, fantastic two weeks where I cried more than I'd like to admit, school's over for me. It's kinda bittersweet, I'm keen to never do a 9-3 school day again, but I'll miss the in-jokes and the simplicity of being able to walk to someone's locker instead of driving 20 minutes to their place. I can't really get my thoughts together but I thought I'd try writing about it all and see how I go.
P.S. You don't need to be in a rough patch to benefit from these tips, they're important for everyone.
Magazines are my thing, as a little kid I owned a ton of Total Girl, Dolly, and Girlfriend mags. Now I've graduated, my shelves and blog post pictures sporting Kinfolk, Frankie, Renegade Collective, and my current subscription, Yen. My love of articles has grown over the years, and probably explains why I've been blogging in various forms since 2014, and why I'm studying writing next year at uni.
That being said, magazines are expensive (subscription or not). Especially when you don't know what you're gonna get in each issue, or if you're going to like it. I have glowing reviews of magazine subscriptions and in particular, I'll be referencing Yen since that's what I'm reading at the moment. Here's some of the biggest pros of subscribing to magazines.
Today I'm tackling a new series 'Becoming Unapologetic'. The series is based on unlearning the need to say sorry for things that we really are proud of but choose to hide away. As a young person, I always find myself apologising for things that aren't perceived as the best thing to do, but I've decided to say screw it and stop being apologetic. First thing: Career Aspirations.
I've been loving having time off school so much, from sleeping in to reading to- actually that's pretty much all I've been doing since the term ended. It's been nice to get a bit of rest and relaxation in before the climb to the end of the year. So I picked up these two books and I have to say that both of them are totally phenomenal and so worth the read.
I started this whole blog-thing with a review of an eyeshadow palette, and you can see how far I've come since then, in picture quality if anything else. I just wanted to thank you all so much for your support since then, considering I've just cracked 3000 page views on this blog, and it means a lot to see this little space start to take off. Anyway, enough with the waterworks, here's how I'm feeling about a new palette I've come across.
I don't tend to do things by halves. On Wednesday, I had light-brown hair that went down to my waist and now it's just brushing my shoulders and it's blonde. I've gone for a little bit of a change (i.e. got rid of 2/3 of my hair) you could say, and I thought I'd chronicle the inspiration/cut/colour/donate diary in a little post for you guys.
I like my interiors. Actually, I'd go far enough to say I love them. But I have the problem of a very small bedroom and a very, very small desk. I have the IKEA Micke Desk and it is 73cm in width (i.e. super-duper small). But when you have restrictions I find that you get more creative with how to organise your space. So this is a tour of what is on my tiny desk, let's get into it.
Mental health days are something I completely advocate for most situations. If school is stressing me out and I need just some time to get on top of things and take the edge off, mental health day is-a-go. I don't take them too often but considering I'm on one while I write this, I thought I'd touch base on the how to get the most out of them.
Note: This playlist has been my go to songs, in conjunction with the entire Matt Corby album, which I am loving. I just ran out of space to fit it in the image. Note ended.
August is slipping away much faster than I expected it to. Music has been a total godsend this month, chucking in some earphones is exactly what I've needed during the past few weeks. This is all very vague, but then again this month has not been the most crystal clear. Anyway, onto the music.

Weird week. Lots has gone down, my to-do list climbed past 40 things and I have begun the 100-day countdown to graduation. Sometimes when you're swamped with things to do, the smallest break makes the world of difference. I have a playlist of short films/videos on youtube that I know are gonna make me feel way better, and those five minutes or so will alleviate the stress that piles on.
Heya Emily has been up and running for a good 6 months now, and so far I've loved the whole process of it. I had written a blog over 2014 & 2015, but it was super inconsistent and I was never completely happy with its niche and how I was approaching it. In 2016 I swapped it out for Heya Emily, and my perspective and knowledge on blogging has changed a lot.
Hey all, long time no see! Happy to report that I'm back blogging, completely missed the whole of last week because starting term three was a shock to the system.
I was struggling with what to write about this week, and then I realised that I've never talked about travelling or anywhere I'd like to go after school is over. So as a bit of a motivator to get me through the final semester, I thought I'd have a bit of a ramble about Paris.
Recently, I've been writing loads. Might just be because I actually have free time seeing as school's out, but also it may just be that I'm feeling a bit artsy. I'm sure a lot of you are like me, and really like making stuff so I thought I'd share what I've found after writing something for the past seven days.
Let's face it, we all love a good lie in. I'm a big offender of oversleeping my alarms, especially on days off (like today, woohoo). Recently I've had to be super productive, mostly because of the exams and assignments due, but it has been good to tick stuff off the to-do list. Although it's tempting, I have a few notes on how to stay focussed on days off.
I'm trying something a little different. One of the tasks from the minimalist challenge was to go through and evaluate your possessions. For the past two months, I've been committing to purchase cruelty-free makeup because I am not willing to harm animals for the sake of my lip colour.
I've been in a bit of a slump, inspiration-wise. Considering it took me about a week to write this post it's definitely getting out of control. But today I wanted to talk about getting inspired, mostly creatively, and the best places to find it. Let's get crackin'.
Things get hectic real quick. I'm in my last year of high school and fourteen assessments/exams is a lot to handle in one term. I have ten to go, and it's gonna be a lot of work. You might be thinking that I'm a little crazy for throwing a 30-day challenge on top of that, but once I explain it you might see why.
So I tried to listen to a new album every day for a week, key word tried. I missed Monday, but I did get through some great tracks, and if you're into eclectic, easy listening, indie-pop, this is the playlist for you.
I have never read a book in one day before. Until two days ago. My mum came home with a book called Chapter One, written by one of the co-founders of my favourite organisation, Thankyou (yes, no space inbetween). It's the story of the highs and lows of the company up to right now, Daniel Flynn is not one to delay something until the right moment if he can do it now. The book is amazing, but first let me give you a quick run down of Thankyou.
Founded by three university students in Melbourne, Thankyou aims to sell products everyday people buy, and use 100% of the profit to fund projects in third world countries. They sell water, funding water projects, Cereal/Muesli Bars/Granola to fund food projects, and body care, to fund health & sanitation projects. The company has faced enormous set backs, but their all-important question, "what if it works?" has gotten their unique business model beating global companies like evian and dove on Coles and Woolworths shelves. As of January 2016, they have raised $3.7 million dollars.
Hello! I am back blogging, exam block is finally over and I've been enjoying a little bit of R&R. That's not to say I haven't been working on my blog, I've got some big things planned for the coming weeks, which will hopefully make this space a tonne nicer. Today is a little post about my 15 favourite feelings, which is an idea I first saw on Hank Green's YouTube channel, then Estee Lalonde's and Claire Marshall's. So without further ado...
So one of my New Years' resolutions was to commit to only purchasing cruelty free products. I hadn't bought much from companies that test on animals, but now I am actively using beauty companies that are proud of their cruelty free status. A few weeks ago, my order from Colourpop dropped on my doorstep, and so far I've been loving them.
If I was gonna pick a word for January, it would be 'fresh', for multiple reasons. Let's get talking.
Dear January,
This year I want to read more, and also vary what I read. I usually found myself reading the same novels over and over but 2016 is the Year of Non-Fiction (in my eyes). I found this book by Pip Lincolne, blogger over at Meet me at Mikes and it perfectly combines creativity and life advice.
I have to say that over the past two years, I have really opened up to makeup and skincare. Through that time I have to say that palettes, and eyeshadow ones in particular, have become my favourite item in the beauty category (closely followed by mascara, lip balm and a good cleanser). Today I'm rubbing shoulders with my newest acquisition, the Red Earth Warm Glow Eyeshadow Palette.
Gotta love a good Simon and Garfunkel reference to send you into the new year! 365 days have come and gone and I am left wondering what happened to them, because all the time has become a bit of a blur. This post is to straighten out my plan for the new year and everything I'm going to do for my 2016 self.
